Temple of the Joy of Faith: Celebrating the Faith by Remembering Our Elders

Amidst the jubilant echoes of a nation celebrating the realization of a long-held dream, with the Ram Temple emerging as a testament of faith, it is important to hear another kind of echo – from within the borders of many of India's The quiet murmur of pain. old age home. While we celebrate the grandeur of brick and mortar, we must not forget the fragility of flesh and bone, those human beings whose souls yearn for more than just a religious monument.

Is aging their fault? The resounding answer, the chorus echoing from within every wrinkle and silver-studded wire of those houses, is a resounding 'no'. They, who built the India on which we stand, deserve a twilight colored not with loneliness and forgotten dreams, but with the vibrant colors of care, respect and remembrance.

Our condition in the old age home is a reminder of this forgotten corner of our society. Faces adorned with memories, eyes brimming with tears, once talking about a full life, are now confined to echoing halls and empty chairs. The stories they shared whispered like autumn leaves rustling in the wind, stories of the agonizing pain of abandonment, neglect and separation.

Their suffering is not a statistic, not a number to be hidden in government reports. This is a story woven from the threads of broken promises, unfulfilled dreams and the heavy burden of loneliness.

As we celebrate the temple of faith, let us dedicate ourselves to building a temple of joy within our hearts, a temple where respect for our elders is the cornerstone, compassion is the cornerstone, and love is the bright sunshine that Warms up their days.

This is not a call for pity, but a clear call from the heart. Let us visit these homes not as outsiders giving donations, but as fellow travelers on the journey of life. Let us offer a listening ear, a kind word, a helping hand. Let us bridge the gap of separation with the warm light of human connection.

The bells of Ram temple should not drown out the silent cries of our elders. May the growing faith in bricks and mortar inspire a resurgence of faith in humanity, a faith that whispers its promises not in grand buildings, but in small, everyday acts of love and care.

Remember, the true measure of a nation's greatness lies not just in its monuments, but in the way it cherishes its last years, its aging hearts, its forgotten stories. Create a temple of joy beyond the walls of any man-made structure, with a sweet symphony of respect and care coupled with festive joy.

This is our true pilgrimage, our sacred duty. Let us move forward on this with open hearts and a commitment to make India a haven not only for the budding temples but also for the aged souls who form its foundation.

Visit to Bangur Nagar Slum in Mumbai

On Children's Day: A Visit to Bangur Nagar Slum in Mumbai

Amid the bustling streets and skyscrapers of Mumbai, a different world exists - narrow lanes, makeshift shelters and children whose laughter echoes through the air. Here, a joy was found in the hearts of the children of Bangur Nagar slum, we visited this area on the auspicious day of Children's Day, 14th November.

A chorus of excited voices and curious glances is heard upon entering the slums. Children, their faces full of innocence and joy, eagerly surrounded us, their eyes sparkling with anticipation. It was a sight that tugged at our heartstrings, reminding us of the innocence and spirit these children possess.

With compassionate hearts filled with chocolates and bags full of gifts, we began our mission to spread smiles and celebrate the spirit of Children's Day. Every gift, no matter how small, was met with wide-eyed wonder and a charming smile. The children's joy was palpable, their laughter filling the air like a scent of happiness.

As we interacted with the children, we learned about their dreams and aspirations. They spoke of becoming doctors, teachers and engineers, their eyes shining with the promise of a bright future. Despite the difficulties faced, a firm belief was seen in his unwavering faith and hope.

In their eyes, we saw a reflection of our country's bright future - a future full of potential, creativity and resilience. These children, despite their dire circumstances, embody the essence of Children's Day - a spirit of innocence, joy and unwavering faith in a better tomorrow.

Our visit to the Bangur Nagar slum was not just a gift-giving activity; It was a journey of learning and inspiration. It reminds us of the power of kindness, the importance of compassion and the transformative impact of the smallest act of generosity.

As we left the slums, we took with us a treasure trove of memories - the innocent laughter of the children, their sparkling eyes and their unwavering hope for the future. His spirit serves as a beacon, reminding us that the human spirit can shine brightly even in times of adversity.

On this Children's Day, let us resolve to nurture and protect the dreams of these young minds, provide them with the opportunities they deserve and empower them to become the change makers of tomorrow. Let us create a world where every child can thrive, where their laughter fills the air and where their dreams take flight.

Arvind Viras and our friend Ravi Kelji were present in this work.

Congratulations to the teachers who gave education to all these children, they gave their precious time to educate these children on the road.

Sanitation is a service: How waste accumulates and affects our environment

Cleanliness is not only a personal responsibility, but also a service to the community, country and the entire world. Unfortunately, many people fail to understand how their waste affects the environment. It is alarming to see how much garbage is piled up and how easily people throw it anywhere without proper disposal or cleaning measures. Sunday, October 1, 2023, in an effort to address this issue, the outgoing minister has announced the Swachhta Hi Seva program, requesting everyone to join and dedicate an hour at 10 am to clean the earth and contribute to a clean environment.

Hidden garbage dumps

Our country and the world in general are facing a serious waste crisis. The amount of waste generated by individuals and businesses is staggering. From household waste to industrial pollutants, these waste piles are increasing every day. Unfortunately, due to carelessness and lack of awareness, people throw their waste anywhere, further exacerbating the problem. The consequences of irresponsible waste disposal practices are dire, affecting not only the visual appeal of our surroundings but also the health and well-being of both humans and wildlife.

Joined Swachhta Hi Seva programme

To tackle the growing problem of waste, it is imperative that we as a society come together and take action. Swachhta Hi Seva Program is an opportunity for everyone to contribute towards a clean environment. By dedicating just one hour of our time at 10 am, we can actively participate in cleaning the earth and making a positive impact.

Our contribution to Arnala Beach,Nallasopara-Mumbai

The Eco Foundation team recently participated in the Jai Safai Abhiyan at Arnala Beach in Mumbai. The initiative aims to clean the beach and create awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal. By actively participating in the cleaning process, we not only removed the garbage from the beach but also educated people about the need for cleanliness. Our efforts have not only helped restore the beauty of Arnala Beach but also contributed to the overall cleanliness of our environment. Mr. Manuel Gawad, Ashok Naiya, Amit Poipkar, Mohan Thapa and Arvind Veeras participated in this work.

Importance of cleanliness

Cleanliness goes beyond just aesthetic appeal. It plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and well-being of individuals and the environment. Proper waste management ensures that harmful pollutants do not contaminate our air, water sources and soil. It helps prevent the spread of diseases and creates a safe and healthy living environment for everyone.

How waste affects the environment

Improper disposal of waste negatively affects the environment in many ways. When waste is left unattended or dumped into water bodies, it can pollute our oceans, rivers and lakes. This pollution not only affects the aquatic life but also damages the entire ecosystem. Moreover, when waste is burned, it releases harmful gases and toxins into the atmosphere, which contribute to air pollution and climate change. Additionally, the decomposition of organic waste in landfills produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas that further accelerates global warming.

Taking responsibility for a clean future

To deal with the ever-increasing waste problem, individuals and communities need to take responsibility and adopt better waste management practices. Here are some steps we can take to ensure a clean future:

Mind your waste: Reduce the amount of waste you generate by practicing conscious consumption. Choose reusable items instead of disposable items.

Segregate your waste: Separate your waste into different categories, such as organic, recyclable and non-recyclable. This will make the recycling process more efficient and reduce the burden on landfills.

Recycle: Whenever possible, recycle your waste. Learn about and use your local recycling facilities.

Compost: Compost is a great way to use up organic waste and create nutrient-rich soil for gardening. Start composting at home and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.

Participate in cleanliness drives: Join community initiatives like the Cleanliness Hi Seva program and actively participate in cleaning public spaces. By doing so, you not only contribute to the cleanliness of your surroundings but also inspire others to follow suit.

Conclusion

Cleanliness is not just a service, but a responsibility to our planet and future generations. Garbage piles that are alarming are a clear indication that more needs to be done to address the issue. By participating in the Swachhta Hi Seva program and adopting responsible waste management practices, we can make a significant difference in creating a clean and healthy environment. Join the movement today and let's save our planet together!

Meta Description: Join the Cleanliness Hi Seva program and take responsibility for a clean environment. Learn how waste affects our world and what steps we can take to make a difference.

Visited an old age home

The tradition of offering Shraddh to deceased relatives is an important part of Indian culture. It is a way of paying respect to our ancestors and helping them in their journey to the afterlife. However, it is also important to remember that elderly people living in old age homes are also members of our family. They have lived long and full lives, and they deserve our love and respect.

It is a sad fact that many elderly people in India are abandoned by their families and end up in old age homes. These homes can often lack resources and staff, and residents can feel lonely and isolated. It is important to remember that these people are still alive, and they need care and attention.

Instead of spending time and money on Shraddh ceremonies for deceased relatives, we should focus on serving the elderly living in old age homes. We can visit them regularly, talk to them and help them with their daily needs. We can donate to nursing homes or volunteer our time to help care for residents.

Serving the elderly is a way of showing respect to them and repaying them for what they have done for us. It is also a way to make the world a better place for everyone.

  •  Visit them regularly and spend time with them.
  • Talk to them about their lives and listen to their stories.
  • Assist with their daily needs, such as bathing, dressing and eating.
  • Play games with them or read to them.
  • Take them for a walk or outing.
  • Donate to nursing homes or volunteer your time to help care for residents.

On the occasion of World Senior Citizen Day on Sunday 1st October, ECHO Foundation team visited an old age home in Nalasopara, Mumbai, cut cake and served breakfast and spent time with senior citizens.

Zero Garbage

🪴🎍☘️ A program on “Household Dry Waste – Wet Waste” was organized by “ECHO Foundation” at Bhawani Kripa Society in Charkop Sector 2 on Sunday, 4 June 2023 on the eve of “World Environment Day”. Arvind Viras and Bhagyashree enlightened everyone about wet waste composting.

The program received an encouraging response from the members living in the society. Everyone decided to segregate the waste generated in their households and ensure to deposit dry waste in BMC's dry waste bin instead of wet waste every day.

Two environmentalists from the society immediately started composting the wet waste from their respective households. Thus "World Environment Day" was celebrated with enthusiasm. 30 female and 10 male members were present in this program ECHO Foundation
